CV

Hi, I'm Tomáš Elšík, a.k.a. PEPA MLATIČKA. I was born into an artistic family and started making videos as early as elementary school. After studying directing at the Film Academy in Písek, I continued my education at FAMU, where I earned both my BA and MA degrees in Editing. I enjoy exploring new approaches to visual storytelling and dramaturgy. I work primarily as a film editor, focusing on feature films and creative documentaries. I also develop and direct my own documentary projects. My debut film, Central Bus Station, premiered at Sheffield DocFest and was screened internationally. In 2025, I completed my second feature documentary, Resilience, which had its world premiere at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival. In addition to film, I collaborate on audiovisual installations for museums and televisions. I’m also involved with the Institute of Documentary Film as a consultant for emerging filmmakers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I rediscovered my grandfather’s carpentry workshop and began creating handmade furniture — a craft that continues to inspire my artistic process.
